Sports greats Chris Evert and Greg Norman have engaged on the way to South Africa from USA, less than a year after divorces from their respective longtime spouses, reported AP.
Tami Starr, director of Chris Evert Charities in Boca Raton, told the news agency that the couple got engaged last Sunday on December 9.
"They're not sure of a wedding date yet. They're both extremely happy they've found each other." said Tami.
In the meanwhile, after being spotted wearing a large diamond on her ring finger, Christ Evert, 52, herself made the announcement at Pearl Valley Golf Estates, where lover Greg Norman, also 52, the Australian-born former world number 1 golfer was playing in the South African Airways Open.
Chris Evert, a 18 Grand Slam singles titles winner, and former husband Andy Mill, a World Cup and Olympic skier from Colorado, divorced last December after 18 years of marriage. Evert was reported to have paid out more than $7 million in a divorce settlement.
Last August, Andy Mills, claimed it was Norman who broke up his marriage to Evert, raging, “[He] at one time was my best friend . . . I would have taken a bullet for this guy. But I didn’t realize he was the one who was going to pull the trigger.” Still, Evert has a previous marriage to British tennis player John Lloyd (picture below, via).
This September, Greg Norman, winner of British Open in 1986 and 1993, reached a multimillion-dollar divorce settlement with his wife of 26 years, former flight attendant Laura Andrassy.The golf legend was forced to carve up his $300 - $500 million estate in the settlement, but has filed suit against Andrassy in November, claiming she violated their agreement by blabbing about his relationship with Chris Evert.

As Norman lives in a $7 million estate in the exclusive Le Lac neighborhood, only a short walk from Evert’s Boca Raton home, the speculation that they may tie the knot has aroused long before.
Update (AFP): Greg Norman and Chris Evert wed in the Bahamas on June 28, 2008. There were all 140 guests attended a sunset wedding ceremony. Evert's youngest son Colton Jack, 12, served as ring bearer, and sons Nicholas Joseph, 14, and Alexander James, 16, walked her down the aisle. The three boys were from a marriage of Chris Evert and Andy Mill. Also present were Norman's daughter Morgan, 23, and son Gregory Jr., 21, who served as best man.
