Mary Whitaker Bono, the widow of the late singer-turned-politician Sonny Bono [wiki] has remarried. Her new bridegroom is Connie Mack [wiki]. Bono, 45, and Mack, 40, both are Republican Congressmen, representing the 45th District of California and Florida's 14th congressional district, respectively.
According to the AP report, the couple were married Saturday December 15 at Mary Bono's North Carolina home in a private ceremony in Asheville, which was attended by 35 family members.
Mary and Mack had been dating since 2005. Bono's chief of staff, Frank Cullen, says Mack proposed in late August while the two were on a camping trip in a national park in Utah.
Mary has a son, Chesare Elan Bono (born 1988), and a daughter, Chianna Maria Bono (born 1991) from her marriage to Sonny Bono. Years after Sonny's death, Mary was married to Palm Springs businessman Glenn Baxley from 2001 to 2005.
Connie Mack, full name Cornelius Alexander McGillicuddy IV, who is divorced from Ann Mack, is the son of the Florida senator of the same name and great-grandson of Hall-of-Fame baseball manager Connie Mack.
