Actress/singer Idina Menzel [wiki] is pregnant. The father of Idina Menzel’s unborn child is Broadway fellow actor, husband Taye Diggs. This is the couple’s first child together.
Broadway belters Taye Diggs, 38, and Idina Menzel, 37, are expecting their first baby, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.
The longtime couple – who met on the 1996 Broadway production of Rent and married in January 2003 – will welcome their new arrival later this year.
Jamaica-born Idina Menzel currently appears on ABC TV series Private Practice. His television credits include Kevin Hill (UPN), Ally McBeal(Fox), and Daybreak (ABC), according to Broadwayworld.com. He also is known for the motion picture How Stella Got Her Groove Back.
Other than as Maureen, a bi-sexual performance artist in Rent, Idina Menzel is also widely known for her role of Elphaba in another Broadway hit musical Wicked, for which she even won a Tony Award. Menzel's film roles include appearances in Just a Kiss, Kissing Jessica Stein, Tollbooth, Water, Ask the Dust, Enchanted. She has since had released three albums, Still I Can’t Be Still, Here, and I Stand.

Even though Menzel, who is white and Jewish, and Diggs, who is black, were threatened with harm in a series of letters because of their interracial marriage in 2004, they are in love more than ever. Menzel recently told to Us Magazine:
"We just really work hard to try to stay best friends. I love him so much, and I feel like we both have each other's backs, and we have a great respect for each other. We're enjoying each new phase of our lives together."
