Sonia Sotomayor [wikipedia], a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, is nominated by President Barack Obama for appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court to replace retiring Justice David Souter today May 26, 2009.

Judge Sonia Sotomayor who was born in the Bronx of New York to Puerto Rican parents in 1954 will the first Latina Justice to the America’s Supreme Court once her nomination is confirmed by the Congress.
