On January 4, 2008, Suharto, 86, was rushed to the Pertamina hospital, Jakarta. His medical condition deteriorated due to complications resulting to weak heart, swelling of limbs and stomach, and partial renal failure, but he was conscious as of January 5. Surgery is needed regarding his pacemaker. Suharto's health signs improved on Sunday but he remained critical, after haemodialysis. On January 8, 2008, Suharto's health worsened as doctors diagnosed him of anaemia and low blood pressure due to heart and kidney complications. There was internal bleeding, fluid on his lungs, blood in his faeces and urine which caused haemoglobin drop. On January 11, 2008, it was announced that Suharto's condition worsened dramatically and that he suffered multiple organ failure.
