Melissa Arrington is a drunken driver from Tucson, Arizona. She killed bicyclist Paul L'Ecuyer during a car crash accident in 2006. Melissa Arrington, pictured above, was convicted two months ago of negligent homicide and two counts of aggravated DUI in connection with L'Ecuyer's death.

She could have been locked no more than four years in the jailhouse, but Pima County Superior Court Judge Michael Cruikshank surprisingly sentenced her on Tuesday to ten and a half years - just one year short of the maximum-- for her making light of the death of L' Ecuyer. In a phone call with one of her male friends one week after the accident, Malissa Arrington laughed and said Paul L'Ecuyer was a "tree hugger, a bicyclist, a Frenchman and a gay guy all in one shot."z
